Ok, by now we all know the importance of having a solid morning routine. We've read the blogs, research studies, and heard our favorite celebrities talking about their rock solid routines.

We get it! Either have a solid morning routine or the rest of your day goes to crap.

But, what about those of us who have a reeeeaaallly hard time waking up at the crack of dawn, to perfect our downward dog, before the sun rises? What about those of us who set alarms for 5:30, 5:33, 5:36, 5:40, and 5:52 only to finally rise out of bed at 6:15am? How can we still have a solid morning routine too?

Cheat code time. You ready? *leans closer*

Start your morning routine the night before!

I know what you're thinking, "But Dee, that would make it a night before routine, how will that help me in the morning?" I know, I thought the same thing when I saw that Kayin's morning routine started the night before. Here's a good time for a confession: I have to give him credit for this one. For Kayin to have a productive day, it starts with his "wind down" AND THEN "morning routine." It's actually kind of genius when you think about it.

Ladies before you start clutching your pearls, and fellas before you close this blog to continue your search for hoochie daddy shorts to breakout this weekend, let me explain.

When Kayin comes home from the hospital, no games are played. His wind down starts immediately: Shower! Dinner! Read up on patients for the next day! Prayer! SLEEP! He's relentless with making sure it happens immediately after he walks in the door. I soon realized this was imperative for him to have a successful morning routine. Here's why: When he goes to sleep knowing he completed all important tasks for that day, he wakes up motivated to start a new day continuing things to get him started on the right foot.

For me, the principle is the same, but the practices are slightly different. Since I'm a morning shower person (all my morning shower people say hoooo. Say ho ho), I use that to wake me up. But, a BIG key for getting out of bed is knowing that the night before, my wind down was solid. That means I did my beauty routine that consists of using my favorite May Kay cleanser, moisturizer, then my favorite jade roller. Then, in the morning, I'm a trained morning routine assassin: Devotional, Yoga, complete skin care routine, and to top it off, I pick out an outfit that makes me feel like the girl boss I am.

So, if you're struggling to stick to a morning routine, try starting it the night before.

Thank us later!
